Washington, DC - Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (NY), Chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Superfund and Environmental Health, and Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08), Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, announced today that they will conduct companion hearings into the failures of the Federal government in responding to the environmental crisis that resulted from the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks. For over five years, Clinton and Nadler have staunchly criticized the Administration's misleading public statements about post-9/11 air quality, as well as its continued failure to provide a proper testing and cleaning of indoor spaces contaminated by WTC toxins and its lack of provision of health care for the thousands of people who are ill as a result of exposure to the pollutants.
These hearings represent the first comprehensive Congressional oversight investigations into these environmental matters since the immediate aftermath of the attacks. While in the Majority, Republican House leadership steadfastly refused to hold a single hearing on this matter, or even respond to a written request made in September 2003 by Nadler, then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and then-Ranking Members John Conyers, John Dingell, George Miller, and Henry Waxman. "We need to examine what went wrong and assess whether the federal government is better prepared to respond to environmental hazards in future disasters," said Senator Clinton. "I also remain concerned about potential indoor contamination resulting from the collapse of the World Trade Center and want to take a close look at the EPA's inadequate program to test and clean residential areas in Manhattan."
"Finally, we have an opportunity to hear, on the record and first hand, who in the federal government was really responsible for key decisions about the handling of post-9/11 air quality. And from there we can finally learn why those decisions were made -- decisions that are still having an impact on 9/11 victims today," said Nadler. "The lack of thorough Congressional oversight thus far has allowed for years finger-pointing and evading of responsibility on the part of the Federal government, but now is time for the truth. We must, at long last, get to the bottom of these matters, so we can do what is right for the heroes of 9/11, and ensure that we prevent anything like this from ever happening again." he added.
The House hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at 10:00 A.M, in Room 2141 of the Rayburn House Office Building, and will examine the federal post-9/11 environmental response and related possible violations of the "substantive due process rights" of individuals living and working in the vicinity of the World Trade Center on, or after, September 11, 2001. In a recent decision, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York found that former EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman's falsely reassuring and misleading statements of safety after the September 11, 2001 attacks were "without question conscience-shocking." The court also found the facts "support an allegation of a violation of the substantive due process right to be free from official government policies that increase the risk of bodily harm" by Whitman's misstatements regarding the air quality of the affected area. An EPA Inspector General review reached similar conclusions. Invited to testify are:

Paul Harris, Shook, Hardy & Bacon [confirmed] (minority witness);

The Senate hearing is tentatively scheduled for June 20th, 2007 and will examine the federal response to 9-11, including risk communication and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency programs to test and clean indoor spaces in lower Manhattan. The hearing will also examine lessons learned from 9-11 and federal readiness to respond to releases of hazardous substances in future emergencies. The hearing is expected to include testimony from EPA and CEQ officials, as well as affected New Yorkers and scientific experts.

I realize that "true oversite" is a pipe dream. I believe these hearings will do little more than expose the truth to those that are watching (the choir). Much like the famous "Downing Street Memo Hearings", the "9/11 Congressional Briefings", etc... The media will most likely cover some aspects of it because it's Hillary, and Hillary is running for President. She will be shown as a hero of the people, when the reality is, she's doing this BECAUSE she's running for President.

I know that there are other reasons not to trust Clinton. That being said, even if her motives are bad, if she somehow manages to get them what they need, then that will be a good thing. Still won't vote for her though. That little chickenhawkette.

I will restrain myself from reading too much into that statement. Suffice it to say, the mere fact that a "probe" is being conducted, opens the door for questions which could ultimately lead to a full blown investigation into 9/11 truth. I am convinced that our "leaders" are not stupid, they are just scared. Some clever questions on the part of some of our more patriotic leaders (Russ Feingold comes to mind) could lead to broader more extensive probings of the facts.
For example, testing of the dust residue (if it was conducted) could lead to "discovery" of trace elements of thermite or other explosive agents. Wishful thinking? Perhaps... but I would have never guessed that they would even be conducting THIS probe, so I'm hopeful.

People don't seem to realize that the obsession with all things Italian mob related (note the popularity of that kind of movie and The Sopranos) is really inappropriate. I started on a 9/11 cover-up All Stars series a while back and like many other projects left it unfinished. I do think that it's a great idea to make a series of cards that identify major players on the world scene and then creating a sort of subculture where we could come up with actual rules for games to play based on the cards. some day when I have more time and energy I might start on that but in the meantime I like to give people ideas in case they want to run with them. bottom line is we need to be as proactive as possible in seeding the world for lasting change in the way people think and work on these issues. if we build it, they will come. tehre are so many fronts on which to challenge the status quo that we are just scratching the surface right now. the future is what WE make of it, unless we make nothing, then it will be whatever the same ol same old bastards decide.

I can not blame ANYONE that wants to come from Mexico to come and live in the United States of America. Think about this though, if there was no work…why would they come?

Even if Steven Jones presents scientific proof to the world will all believe in the truth? NO. There are some that will never be able to accept what we have to say, just like there are some that will never be able to accept what I am saying to you right now. I have spoken to a past pastor of mine about 9/11 and urged him to look into the facts about 9/11. I only asked him to look at 9/11PressForTruth. Needless to say I haven’t heard back about any of this. The sad matter of fact is this; the religious factions and churches have been lied to and deceived by the Republican party over and over. And now religious people all over the country can’t bring themselves to the truth anymore.
The sad truth is that both the Republican and Democratic party are EVIL. (Not all members, but they don’t have a chance in hell…pun intended.)
It is fine time that we stop believing that our Government will save us from evil because it has been infiltrated by evil and it is run by evil men and women who only serve one master. That master is greed. Jesus said that you can not server two masters. And these elected men and women can not either. no doubt aid/funds will be provided to the sick and the dying. And I can't see it coming with a stipulation forbidding them from speaking out against the govt. Since the "attacks" they've been speaking out and the media has practically ignored them, so hush money would be redundant.
in this case, I really don't care what color the money is, just as long as the responders get what they have deserved FOR YEARS.

But they should be smart about it. If they buy into something that derails or slows down the movement, who knows what they'll be facing a year or two from now. They could get compensation, then have some bullshit tax layed on them that sucks it right back out of them. Or much, MUCH worse...
I feel deeply for these people, and that is part of why I'm trying to do my part to spread Truth. But we need to realize, and THEY (the victims) need to realize, that this issue is SO HUGE. Way bigger than any individual lives. I want them to have FULL justice, not just a pocketful of quickly depreciating cash. I know they need help now, but hundreds or thousands of times as many people are going to suffer if we don't reverse this downward spiral. We need them to keep demanding FULL justice, not to take a payoff then remain quiet.

How to prepare for this event
How can the movement capitalize on this opportunity?
1. Support the awarding of benefits to first responders and point out the liars who held back the EPA warning of toxic air. We never know, they might stiff the first responders again. CONDOLEEZA LIED, PEOPLE DIED!
2. Maximize visibility of 9-11 truth (IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB! The 9-11 Commission narrative is the wrong premise for any investigation)
3. Advocate what we want - an honest investigation of 9-11 as an inside job
4. Use the occasion to identify which representatives would help and those who would oppose the cause - send in video equipped truth squads to ambush reps (they must be prepared, maybe with info kits approved by W. Tarpley)
5. Apply pressure on those who obstruct the truth - the movement must be responsive - if not with timely rallies then perhaps with internet newsletters, im/email/text brigades, press releases (a designated spokesman ready to comment on TV after every hearing). We should have a designated website where people can verify any info received from the sources above.
6. Avoid letting the occasion be misused to shut out a future investigation (counter any false evidence asap, cooperate with first responders so they won't be unwitting dupes to cover up the broader 9-11 issues)
7. Be ready to present our own evidence should the hearings venture on the cause of the building collapse (CD, collapse foreknowledge, etc.). Apply pressure to put our witnesses in the hearings.
8. If possible, though I am not sure it would be best under its chairwoman, put political pressure to make the hearings specifically cover the inside job angle and to call on our expert witnesses.
The suffering of the first responders IS the result of the conspirators orchestrating the building collapse then letting the first responders go in and be sacrificial heroes. This was compounded by the same conspirators letting first responders work on in the aftermath uninformed of the toxic air. Our narrative must prevail over Zelikow's catalyzing event.

They will most likely try to make this a whitewash of 9-11. Along the way they might grant benefits to the first responders, even hang out some of the operators who misled about the toxic air to look good. I bet left gatekeeper blogs will be proclaiming victory. They may also use this as a wedge issue to separate public support for first responders and 9-11 truthers. They can paint truthers as obstructionists preventing first responders from getting their much needed treatments.
But since they will do this anyway, how should we best act on it. Do we stand back and let them get away with it. If we do, they might push back the truth movement and break our new found momentum.
The alternative to playing dead is to use the opportunity to advance our goals strategically. We want to use their weapon aimed at us to blowback at them.
We don't want to fall for it as you say, we want a sort of judo move to reverse the maneuver on them.
In the Vietnam war, they covered up the Gulf of Tonkin incident, but your protests did get the troops home at least. That was a significant if partial victory. You are correct that they got away with the Oklahoma City bombing investigation, but you and I weren't there to support Gen. Partin then. The truth movement is here now, let's make a difference.
Be wary, but don't be paralyzed by fear into complacency. Don't think that your current fascist government is as bad as it can get, things can get much worse for you if nobody stops the conspiracists from carrying out their plans.
