KSM on trial in Guantanamo?

9/11, Bali suspects in army hearings

March 08, 2007

WASHINGTON: The alleged masterminds behind the September 11 and Bali bomb attacks will be among 14 "high-value detainees" to face hearings at the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay tomorrow.

The hearings are believed to be the first for the men, including suspected 9/11 planner Khalid Sheik Mohammed and the Indonesian known as Hambali - who is accused of planning the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, including 88 Australians - since they were seized by the US military.

No reporters or other outside observers such as defence lawyers would be allowed to attend the hearings to determine whether the men were enemy combatants, US officials said.

"We will commence with the combatant status review tribunals for the 14 high-value detainees that came into DoD (Department of Defence) custody in September, commencing this Friday," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said.

"We will provide transcripts, with necessary redactions for national security, to you so that you can follow the proceedings that took place."

The 14 were held in secret CIA prisons for up to four years before being transferred to Guantanamo in September. Questions have repeatedly been raised about whether the 14 were tortured while in CIA detention.

The prison camp at the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay holds about 385 suspects accused of fighting for al-Qa'ida, the Taliban or associated Islamist militant movements.

Indefinite detention and allegations of mistreatment at Guantanamo, which the US military denies, have tarnished the image of the US abroad. Many countries, including US allies, have called for the camp to be closed.

Lawyers for some of the Guantanamo prisoners said in an appeal to the US Supreme Court yesterday that the suspects had been unlawfully detained for more than five years and deserved at least a hearing to challenge their confinement.

They argued that a US appeals court was wrong in a ruling last month that upheld a key part of an anti-terrorism law sought by President George W. Bush that took away the rights of the prisoners to challenge their detention before US federal judges.

Australian terror suspect David Hicks, 31, has been charged with providing material support for terrorism.

It is expected he will make his first appearance before the military commission at at Guantanamo Bay this month.

Hicks has been in US custody for more than five years after being picked up on the Afghanistan battlefield in December 2001.

It is alleged Hicks trained and fought with al-Qa'ida against US and coalition troops in Afghanistan.

What a JOKE!!!

I'd love to see this fiasco.... what a grand theater.

Question one.

"Do you confirm that the 9/11 Commission report is true and all your testimony in it is correct?"

...... "Sure"

GUILTY!!!.....next

I just want to confirm that this trial takes place and that KSM is real.... because at this point...... nobody really knows for sure.
We only know what we have been led to beleive

Kangaroo Court now in session.

I'm surprised this even leaked out. It's going to be a fast-track to death for this Patsy. He will under no circumstances be allowed to talk while not being tortured, IMO.

They could whack any goat

They could whack any goat herder and tell us it was KSM unless we can get somone outside our government structure to speak to him.

Why would they not want him to talk? Would he warn us of another attack? What could he say that would affect National Security?

Seriously! The ignorant people in this country deserve everything that is coming their way. Who's going to come save us? China? Russia?

You wonder why the countries of the Middle East are doing their part to fight us in Iraq.

As with Moussawi

I think all the "key" players in custody have been tortured to the point of insanity.

I'm quite curious to see what's left of Abu Zubaydah as he's had some very interesting things to say in the past, if the reports are true (and they seem to be).

Thanks for all your fine work, Reprehensor.

I hope that certain people around here show a little more maturity and can check their egos at the door, for all our sake.

Tarpley's presentation in AZ was quite good (I was there). The movement really needs to run with the Truth Squads as this tactic is one of the best ways to get greater exposure and crack the msm blackout.

I hope that you and yours are well.

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

Here's my idea

of what's being said:

Prosecutor: Mr. Mohammed, do you deny that you were the mastermind behind 9/11?

KSM: What are you talking about? You guys paid me three million to play a part.

Prosecutor: The accused must stick to the question.

KSM: I had to stop shaving and showering for THREE DAYS so I would look sinister for that photo. Now you're going to HANG me?

Prosecutor: The accused MUST stick to the question.

KSM: I'm calling my handler in Washington!

Prosecutor: Move to strike from the record.

. . .

I love it when...

You talk lawyerly.

HA!

"Get a (court) room." That was VERY clever on SO many different levels. I have no doubt that if GW and myself were allowed into a court room that was about truth and accountability for the 9/11 attacks, and had people like Dubya, Cheney, Feith, Pearl, Wolfowitz, Rice, Rove, Rumsfeld, Hadley, and many others lined up to testify, under oath, we most assuredly would GET IT ON.

One thing...

I found interesting that was reported by AP...

"No word of the hearings will be made public until the government releases a transcript of the proceedings, edited to remove material deemed damaging to national security, he said."

And...

"Whitman said the hearings for the 14 suspects will be closed to the media to protect national-security interests that could be compromised by the detainees' statements."

If you change the phrase "National Security", and replace it with the phrase, "Corrupt Bastard Murdering Fascist Politicians", it might be a little more accurate.

Look for leaks: REACH OUT

We need to reach military personnel so they can report on this in clandestine ways. The military is composed of people like us. Wouild you send out leaked reports if you could? I would.

Are there military personnel reading 911blogger? How can we reach these folks?

Leaked reports

are likely to be designed to bolster the official story.

...

Good point. But it isn't always the case -- Pentagon Papers, for example (in the 1970s), or those photos from Abu Ghraib.

Stuff sometimes gets out that the top people really do not want out. That's what I was referring to here... not that having me say something will make it happen. It's just a wish-list sort of statement on my part.

Although, I actually do think that there are many people in diverse situations, most likely, who have stumbled accross 911blogger and consult it regularly.

Surely there really are military people reading this. I am addressing them with this request: Hi, folks. Are you willing to work on behalf of justice? I know it is risky. But look what we stand to lose, if you stay silent. Be a patriot.

You...

Might enjoy this.

good find, jon

What a goddamn farce. Can anyone even begin to comprehend what these "national security interests" could be? Like, in the OCT version, is KSM going to expose to the world how to get a boxcutter onto an airplane?

Hello? They're supposed to be "terrorists". WTF would they know about "national security"? Unless....

This is outrageous. Literally. I cannot contain my outrage...

All of the prisoners at Gitmo and every other detention center have stories to tell that this administration does not want out. They are all in danger of being summarily executed (the process being used is not "due process") to keep that information buried.

Every prisoner who has been released has told incredible stories of erroneous detention and torture. Can't have any more of that.

Agreed?

And while we're working to get the new investigations let's support the 70,000 + people who have been directly impacted by the toxic disaster that was inflicted on NYC.

OK?

Instead of beating up on each other, let's focus on getting the perps.

This Sunday is the 11th, get out there and get busy.

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

Be smarter then them

The way I look at it if the government was smart they would hire all of us to do an investigation because we would do it for free .it sucks because thats not going to happen unless we form some government inside the government like these criminals have done. The three most important words in the constitution is WE The People we are actually the first form of government without us the government could not exsist I dont live in NY but you should try to organize a peoples grand jury or look into it more or start a militia movenment just to stand up to this opressive government (i am not advocating violence) then with your miltia start your own miltaty tribunal and send these criminals down the hudson. you just cant stop thinking. you have to be smarter then your enemy

One doesn't have to live

in NYC to work for a citizen's grand jury. The LA group is working for a national grand jury to be held later this year.

(BTW - I live in the San Francisco bay area)

I agree that WE the people are the real government, we just have to start acting like it.

Be well.

Bigotry?

You say bigotry, I say intellectual honesty. If you're completely blind & can't see that there are many unfounded myths & outright distortions of truth regarding many of the 'official stories' we've been fed, don't be surprised when someone questions your motives.

As far as I can see, Jon, you are a great guy with a big heart. You've only done good regarding 911 truth & the first responders. However intellectual dishonesty can be inferred many ways. I choose to infer that you just haven't looked at all the facts, or your disdain for RT is blinding you.

My $.02

As far as I'm concerned

I've seen you make references to the "Church Of Controlled Demolition" and those who "just don't like jews", which upon request you refused to provide any actual examples for.

It's all well to point out real bigotry in the movement - using imaginary bigotry for I'll say questionable motives, however, is not. And that is all I will say.

I'm not jewish

and I can see that anti-semitism is the new "no-planes' theory of the 911 Truth movement. it is a way of undermining our efforts - and just as stupid.

come on - do you think that AMBUSH in Arizona was a coincidence? do you think that dick-wad who wrote the holocaust denial book releasing it RIGHT BEFORE the conference is a COINCIDENCE? Do you think the coordinated attacks in the Arizona media was a COINCIDENCE? do you think CNN's hit piece on 911 anti-semitism was a COINCIDENCE?

And you talk to US about evidence? you're about as subtle as a turd in the driven virgin snow.

Take your Kosher Nostra comment and shove it up your ignorant ass.

You give us STUPID LOGIC implying that the KSM research should be ignored - and you use Controlled Demolition as an excuse? i guess that kills TWO legitimate lines of research with one stone. kudos to cointelpro central.

What sort of ass-backwards ass-clown logic is that? what does ONE have to do with the OTHER?

Nothing. you could have Pakistan facilitating the al qaeda myth - with blackwater black-ops coordinating the demolition. is that SO hard to understand?

of course not

just like No-Planes - it is DESIGNED to be stupid

just like Space-Beams - it is DESIGNED to be stupid

whatsa' matter? you guys at disinfo central have to bring out the BIG GUNS? Anti_semitism is the new weapon of choice now?

pathetic.

agree to dis agree or do you want to attack

Thats what I mean you are just a keyboard commando

What have you done for the 9/11 truth movement post your stupid disinfo and attack everyone.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH YOUR LIFE? ARE YOU HAPPY?
You drew first blood not me so do you want to start conflict with every one who doesnt agree with your idea.

I think Israel had a major part in 9/11 big deal do you want me to back up what i am saying because I will
.
If that Qualifies me as a anti sematic I will wear it as a badge of courage to seek the truth. You follow your Pakistan lead and put your blind folders on and go girl you go

BTW I could give a rats ass if your jewish my best friend growing was jewish and he is a good shit. its not about being jewish

Agree to dis-agree--such a mature thought...

...but you frame it like an attack.

Don't get me wrong; JA has been tetchy, along with others lately. But I'm not really seeing the "willing to get along" from you, GIR.

And what do you mean by this: " go girl you go"?

Aunt Jenny's just asking... ;-)

Impeachment. Accountability. A better world.

Coincidence?

No, I don't think it's coincidence that people who have examined the official myth of 9/11 - and seen it for the colossal untruth that it is - might at some point arrive at questioning other well established historical myths. That is only logical, and it is healthy.

Methinks you're foaming at the mouth, Sir - coincidence, or cointelprocidence - one can only wonder. As far as I'm concerned, questions are never "designed to be stupid", on the contrary.

Is rebellion the only answer left?

Why are we allowing this to happen? Having no media, and no outside observers? Then what is the point of even having mock trials and the lot? Why not just begin the mass executions of dissidents tomorrow?

The more I read on this website, the more I become enraged at what has happened to MY GOVERNMENT! What happens if even more and more people become outraged, and the suggestion of revolt begins to be seriously considered? Does it need to come to the U.S. military surrounding the White House with tanks such as in the fall of Russia for someone to get the idea that citizens will eventually tire of their once free land slowly turning into a police state?

I certainly pray it won't, but if things don't change, and the government insists on moving in a fascist direction, what options will we be left with?

Is there no form of redress that has not been quashed, or redirected to a round file that citizens have left to use?

I voted for Bush twice, and yes I made a mistake, and yes I will not make the same GOP mistake again, but is it too late? Has this all gone so far that the hole has been dug too deep for us alone to get out of without the use of insurrection?

I am simply tempted to stop coming to 9/11 websites, close my eyes, click my heels together and say "There's no place like home, there's no place like home..." in the hopes that this will all go away...

How could this happen to us? This was never supposed to happen in the USA, we were supposed to be a model of democracy and freedom for the world, and I feel personally responsible because I helped this administration get into power with my vote. :(

-={Guy R. Vestal, NYC Expatriate]=-

Re: Is it too late?

Friend, thanks for this honest post.

We can and will prevail. Look at this: conversion to 911 truth goes one way, and not the other. Your case resembles eveyone's, mine included. We start out believing the official story -- until we look at the evidence.

There is no movement from 911 truth to the official story. Why? it is a fabric of lies, obviously. Anyone can see that who actually looks.

Therefore, our job is simple: help people to look.

There is only one direction that this can go. Think about it. Isn't that hopeful? It can only go our way, if we are patient and persistent.

Note also that one person realizing the truth -- i.e., the official version's fasehood -- generates many more afterwards. Each of us brings in many. Ultimately, the effect is exponential.

Our job is clear. Let's just do it.

You would think

that if they just knew we were willing to do something about all this that it would all end..... one way or another.

What would 1,000,000 people standing hand in hand around the White House look like?

PArt of winning this battle is going to be the formulation of a plan for the aftermath of a revolt. A where do we go from here manifesto.

taking these people out will greatly reduce the chance for terrorism..... from inside or outside our borders.

We are the only ones who can bring about change.

Perhaps we could find a real leader who has the best interests of the world in mind.

Someone who knows that the betterment of the world may not be capitalisticly beneficial.

If you help people... eventually they will be able to help themselves.

I read the other day that for the cost of this war they could have paid for every person in the country to go to college for four years. How would that change the world?

When was the last time you heard of something good come out of a think tank?

We do need to start thinking about this

JJJ, you say, "Part of winning this battle is going to be the formulation of a plan for the aftermath of a revolt. A where do we go from here manifesto."

I agree. I am planning a blog on this topic. I hope others also do that.

I am not sure that 'revolt' is the right word to use for it though. I do however think it will need a revolution of some kind. Big changes are necessary, from the grass-roots up.

You also mention this line of thinking: "I read the other day that for the cost of this war they could have paid for every person in the country to go to college for four years. How would that change the world?"

I am sure that this is the way things will have to go. This and many other 'people-oriented' ideas like it.

Educated

Educated people not dead ones.

These educated people if taught correctly could completely alter the fate of the world.

After you escape college you are indoctrinated into the system.... your only goal at that point is to make money.... many just want to pay off their loans and credit card bills. If education was provided then the initial consequence of graduation may not be all about the money..... trickle down..... more emphasis could be applied to doing some good for the world.

The increased taxes from an educated population would pay for the next round of students. An educated population would alter the way people live in this country and the world.

If they wanted us educated

sounds good, except...

...whose ideas will be taught at everyone's expense? You may think there's such a thing as truth which everyone can agree on, and which can form a politically neutral "universalist" curriculum, but that is not the case in my experience. 2+2 = 4; not far after that it starts to get dicey. :-/ In theory, I 100% support everyone getting "educated", but what does that mean in practice? One man's "education" is another man's "indoctrination".

As long as it's voluntary, I fully support education of as many as will listen to instruction. I have several teachers in my immediate family; this is in my blood. I just don't support using the force of the state (or any other force, for that matter) to make you pay for teaching everyone my ideas, or vice versa. Ultimately this is a matter for parents to decide and provide for their own kids, until the kids are old enough to decide for themselves about their continuing education. It may sound heartless but the alternative actually turns out worse (as we're now starting to see).

I can't put it much better than this guy did:

"To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical."
--Thomas Jefferson: Bill for Religious Freedom, 1779. Papers 2:545

Want to figure out 9/11? Ponder the 9/11 "Mineta Stone"

"Ultimately this is a matter

"Ultimately this is a matter for parents to decide and provide for their own kids, until the kids are old enough to decide for themselves about their continuing education. It may sound heartless but the alternative actually turns out worse (as we're now starting to see)."

And your back-up plan when the parents are evil fucks, is...?

You sound like you haven't a clue. And thinking there has to be a false "choice" between the state and isolated parents--and being willing to make that choice, accept that frame without question, isn't just heartless--it's IRRESPONSIBLE. THERE IS NO EXCUSE. Their is no reason we cannot do both, WELL. ALL adults are responsible for the welfare of ALL children; if the primary parents fail, or even just need a little help here and there, it is ALL our responsibility to help them learn a better way. NOTE: "help" does not equal "do for" unless we are dealing with "evil fucks".

Your post seems to be well intetioned[except with the "we'll just be heartless because I don't have a clue bit ">:( ] but comes with the baggage of artificial either/or scarcity thinking, as well as ignorance of how these problems develope in the first place. It all boils down to economics and stress from being over worked and underpaid. And, you're over emphasis on the primary parents as the only teachers/support system actually is a set up for severe stress and failure when the economic system fails.

You didn't think this happens by magic, did you? "Parenting" is a skill and responsibility--not a "right" by itself. If you don't the skills and aren't interested in developing them, don't be a parent. Even if you have these skills, no parent in human history, who lived in a group of humans, ever did it ALL BY THEIR SELVES. In preindustrial societies EVERYONE helps everyone else with whatever needs to be done. In post industrial societies the economy (alledgedly) supplies opportunities for parents to work at well paying jobs, being taxed for benefit in the event of hardship.

[Everyone feel free to laugh at this point]

The problems you are observing are economic in origin--and VERY artificial--it is being stressed, over worked and uinderpaid that has kept many citizens from involvement with THEIR government, that makes them feel(correctly) their state(education, military spending, etc) is not acurately refecting their values.

I could also go on about how many of these people, in their unnaturally stressed state, have turned to authoritarian outlooks/culture/religon for comfort instead of learning new skills, with the result they don't "grok" the concept of working with people democratically and so can't even see it when it IS happening...but this post is long enough and cranky enough as it is...

Impeachment. Accountability. A better world.

yikes

This is a 911 blog, not an education blog, so despite having a lot to say on this, I'll only make 2 brief counterstatements here:

- Your "we'll just be heartless because I don't have a clue bit ">:( comment is off base both because it's *not* heartless (it only may *sound* so, to some) and because, again, I'm not clueless

and

- It's not my belief that parents should never receive help from anyone.

Aside from that, I'll add that I share your assessment of the economic stress on the family (and, as I just hinted, the need for helping each other out).

Big subject. Maybe I shouldn't have jumped into it here. ;-/

you never realize the way love dies when you crucify a soul

Oh, trust me this far: I'm not like that. Ruthlessly rational in my analysis, if need be, but a long way from heartless.

Politics is by nature an argumentative pursuit. Back to the on-topic fracas.... :-)

nypundit -

As members in this society we are all responsible to one degree or another. We have all allowed this totally corrupt monster to grow to the size and strength that now is.

This is not a partisan issue or problem, it is an American problem. It is a grave threat to all of humanity and a challenge everyone must take up if our species is to survive and flourish.

Now that you are awake and know the ugly truth, there is no going back.

Channel your anger and outrage, embrace your idealism and work for change. This is the only constructive way to work through the situation we now find ourselves in.

This Sunday is March 11th and there will be visibility actions all over the U.S. Find one or make your own, spread the word. If nothing else, just sit down with a friend or two who don't know about 9/11 and start a dialogue with them. By taking action you will not only feel better, you will be creating the change we all need.

From April 15th to April 22nd there is a corporate boycott focused on letting our politicians (and their corporate owners) know that because they are not taking action, we are. I encourage everyone to participate and also to not go to work for as much of that week as possible. This is the opening move in a strategic, non-violent revolution to restore our constitutional republic.

As Gandhi said: "we must be the change we wish to see in the world."

I hope that you and yours are well.

Please stay in touch.

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

The ugly truth...

Thank you all for your replies. After I left here I was frustrated as to why the whole world could not see what I had seen, and even if they did not believe that there was still truth out there, why did they not at least support those who were questioning.

So I did a podcast on activism for my weblog, using 9/11 a few times as an example. It may have meant something only to me, but at least I sure feel a hell of a lot better getting it off my chest. :)

P.S. And I do keep in touch, I just lurk alot until I get outraged enough to pipe in... hahaha...

I feel your pain

After I left here I was frustrated as to why the whole world could not see what I had seen, and even if they did not believe that there was still truth out there, why did they not at least support those who were questioning.

I've had that feeling soooo many times, on so many issues. Do you ever feel like going Clockwork Orange on people and just forcing them to look at the truth? :-D

New Village Voice article about how NYC storm troopers mass

arrested peaceful protesters before the Aug, 2004 Republican Convention!!! (And the most brutal parts of the story were omitted or sugarcoated, IMO!)

I could almost see this having happened under Ghouliani, but Bloomberg was mayor by then. Why did he approve these Gestapo tactics??? He never heard of Nazis???

The feds dictated everything

and Bloomberg is just a waste of humanity

i work two blocks from Madison Square Garden and they were doing random sweeps with giant orange nets - scooping up whoever was in the streets - and carting them off. it was surreal.

Off topic but I just saw this . .

I noticed this story on Screwloosechange -

Rosie Pimps Scholars for 9-11 Truth
http://screwloosechange.blogspot.com/2007/03/rosie-pimps-scholars-for-9-...

Her site links not to the neutral page, but directly to Fetzer's site. Please ask her why - you can submit a question at the top of her page.

Does she think nukes were used? Does she think energy weapons were used on 9/11? Why would she promote the views that most of the scholars membership would not? Why would she only link to one group, the one that the vast majority of voting members decided to leave?

http://www.rosie.com/blog/sections/ask-ro/

Ask her to also list stj911.org, at the very least.

It's interesting how Hollywood and MSM talk shows end up promoting Fetzer over everyone else in the movement. One hoax after another . . .

There's a Lot More At Fetzer's Site Besides Space Weapons

There's a Lot More At Fetzer's Site Besides Space Weapons including links to most of the 911 Films, tons of articles, 98% GREAT STUFF.

Linking to both sites would be far better but this is still good news.

Taking the fat out of the fat bin Laden confession video

March 7, 2007 – For millions of people seeking the truth about September 11, 2001, the videotape released by the Department of Defense on December 13, 2001 in which Osama bin Laden confesses to prior knowledge of 9/11 has been a powerful talking point when making the case that the government is covering up what actually happened on that notorious day.

Many in the global movement to discover the truth about 9/11 have referred to this video as the fat bin Laden video, including yours truly. When we see frames from the video such as in Figure 1, any person with eyes can look and see that the bin Laden in the video appears much fatter than any other known image of Osama.

However, when one or even a few frames are taken from a 35-minute segment of video, and those selected frames exploit the least recognizable images of bin Laden while hundreds of other frames resemble him more closely, it is a misrepresentation of the truth. Clearly, the center frame above is one of those frames in the video that least resembles Osama bin Laden - yet has been picked and published as if the entire video reveals bin Laden in this distorted image, when it does not.

Interesting.

Worth a read imho...

"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot." - Mark Twain

yeah v interesting

well done report but the conclusion is ridiculous. there's no way we had all those guys and let them go to invade is it posssible we captured them, forced this confession video and held them all in secret prisons to invade? they make the video crappy so we're arguing about whether it's a real osama instead of asking if there was a gun to all their heads and they were allready captured. i don't know though just my idea.
