This is the first I am hearing of her. I really liked what she had to say. It's speeches like hers that reminds us about accountability, justice, transparency of power, civil rights, patriotic dissent, and truth.

As usual, straight-to-the-heart. Great talk. I feel the highlight of her speech was toward the end when she issued forth some very fine quotes from Lincoln, Jefferson, etc.
I wish she would have mentioned the ONLY point pondered by the founders concerning our 2nd Amendment: "A fully armed militia (all people of sound mind) to protect from the tyranny in government, exactly as we have today.

I'm looking for transcripts of the May 19, 2002 episode of Meet The Press, which featured Dick Cheney, and the May 26, 2002 episode, which featured Tom Daschle.
Also, I'm looking for a Reuters article which was published the week before Cheney's May 19 appearance on Meet The Press. I'm not sure of the exact date. The article is about Daschle, and apparently contains his first public mention of the now infamous January 24 phone call he received from Cheney asking him not to investigate 9/11. Also in the article, Daschle endorses the idea of an independent 9/11 commission for the first time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

SEN. DASCHLE: Yes, he did, Tim, on January 24, and then on January 28 the president himself at one of our breakfast meetings repeated the request. This is an honest disagreement over our own recollections, I suppose, and I'll leave it at that.
MR. RUSSERT: So both the president and the vice president requested, urged you, not to have an investigation of the events of September 11?
SEN. DASCHLE: Correct.
MR. RUSSERT: You're absolutely convinced of that?
SEN. DASCHLE: I can give you the dates. I have.
MR. RUSSERT: What words did they use?
SEN. DASCHLE: Well, I think-I don't recall the exact words, but the motivation was that they didn't want to take people off of the effort to try to win the war on terror. They were concerned about the diversion of resources, the diversion of manpower, in particular, and that was the reason given to me by both the president and the vice president about their concerns involving an investigation of any kind.
MR. RUSSERT: It wasn't "Let's not have a national commission, but let's have the intelligence committees look into this," it was "No investigation by anyone, period"?
SEN. DASCHLE: That's correct.

They are establishing control of the remaining oil fields now, in contrast to prior to the 70s, when we produced our own oil. So if peak oil doesn't exist, what happened to the American oil fields? You don't think they peaked? Where did the oil go then? Do you have a theory for that?
Same thing with global warming. The majority of scientists, without political agendas, believe it is real, based on research. The few who are linked to the oil industry believe it is a fraud. So you're on the side of the oil industry in this one, I take it? Now whether they are using global warming as an excuse to setup toll roads and increase taxes and tracking people is a different issue. That can be true even though global warming is also true.

Is Oil finite? Possibly. However, you wouldn't know it with new oil & gas fields discovered nearly daily. I remember reading & hearing in the news that Venezuela has more oil than all the Arab nations combined. Chavez claims, "We have the largest oil reserves in the world, we have oil for 200 years." So I guess he should be scared if the true goal is oil. Unless the Neocons goal for the moment is war with Iran, then Russia & China.

The second, third, and fourth largest oilfields in the world have all gone into decline in the last few years. One of those fields in Mexico, Cantarell, is absolutely crashing. The U.S. peaked in the early 1970's. Right now, the peak month is May 2005 and the planet is struggling to get past 85 million barrels per day in production and pretty much flat on that number. Once another large field or two drop off, like Ghawar in Saudi Arabia, we will be 100% certain that we have reached peak. No amount of corn oil or tar will make up for that.

I agree with your analysis and links Al , many oil fields ARE past peak production. But what is not mentioned in any of those studies is the vast amount of oil that exists on the north slope of Alaska that the government is keeping under wraps. It would last us for another 100+ years.
For more on this, google "Linsday Williams peak oil". You will find that Williams' story disproves the peak oil theory.

The US is going to run out around 2010. Russia within a couple years after that. The bulk of what is left is in the middle east. Venezula has a good bit.
The problem is not running out anytime soon, but who controls the distribution rights of what is left. The one who controls the distribution controls the world, hence PNAC and the Grand Chessboard.

No I can't, when someone says something that stupid then I call it like I see it. That to me is clearly a delusional viewpoint.
I am "educated" about it BTW, I worked at Scripps Institute as a Marine Biologist between 84'-04'.
In that 20 years I have talked personally to some of the worlds leading researchers on Global Warming, the data I have seen is irrefutable.
In the last 70 years the world population has tripled from approx. 2 Billion to now over 6 Billion, that impact of 4 Billion more human beings all of which are emitting to some degree a "carbon footprint" is without any question creating an ever increasing strain on the relatively thin atmosphere.
Now unless you think world population is going to slow down or even shrink in the next 50 years then odds are we are going to be looking at another doubling to approx. 12 Billion people.
If current environmental guidelines are not changed then only a fool would say this would have no appreciable impact on Climate change.
