Amy Goodman Interrupted

(This is YT's blog, but I was the moderator who posted Col. Bowman's email without getting both sides of the story. My apologies to Mike and Col. Bowman, I hope you two can work things out. -r.)

Mike sent me the footage of his February 10 encounter with Amy Goodman at Florida Institute of Technology and asked me to edit it and get it online. The day after the event at FIT, Bob Bowman had circulated an email castigating Mike's actions that night and Mike felt that he had been misrepresented. He wanted his side of the story told and I promised I would help. So here's the video from that event, along with Mike's response to Dr. Bowman's letter.

Kevin Barrett had Mike on his show yesterday but I don't have a link to it yet.

In the chaos, a few seconds of footage got taped over. Other than that, this is the entire event, unaltered:

Bob Bowman's email

Mike's response:

Because there's two sides to every story and it's time for mine.

First off i am the one who bullhorned UFPJ in DC. That was a spur of the moment thing. Amy Goodman wasn't. Dr. Bob breaks my heart by writing this not just because he is inaccurate with the facts (as the video will show), but I spent literally hundreds of hours of MY free time volunteering on HIS campaign for congress in our district. I canvassed until my feet hurt and it was too dark to knock on doors, sometimes all weekend and after work weekdays. I begged everyone i knew who owns property (residential and business) to allow me to put up his campaign signs. I even nailed some to the posts and channel markers on the intercoastal waterway so boats could see em too. I spent hours and hours in the hot ass Florida sun handing out flyers in the biggest parking lots i could find, I attended rallies, I talked about the guy til i turned blue in the face, and drove my girlfiend nuts. I've met him more times than I can remember and even went to his house with another volunteer to give him his p.o. box mail one night. So for him to send out this e-mail and speak of me as if he doesn't know me and was just some nut case in the crowd who has hurt the movement is like I said truly heart breaking. I even called him one hour after this sh*t happened and apologized to him personally.

Me, I deal in reality and facts. So lets go down the list of let's say not so true info in his e-mail. First there were only 300 people the not 1,000 (it was held at the Gleason auditorium at F.I.T in Melbourne FL in case anyone wants to verify). I stress this this because there is a 700 person difference and remember that i was a "kook" in front of these people. Next the first thing i did was stand up and Ask Amy several times loudly with my voice (not the bullhorn) why she ignores the 911 truth movement, and how she can critcize corporate media yet she ignores 911 truth? She was NOT cooperative like Bob said. She tried to ignore me at first and continue on with the same speech she's been giving at every stop on her book tour. So by then it got loud and the so-called progressive peace activists started trying to tackle and grab me, i had to fight them off. At that time I then reached into my bookbag and grabbed my megaphone. I only got one sentence out through it and I believe it was "why do you inadequately cover the 911 truth movement"? People were yelling at me and grabbing me. She then said something to the effect of encouraging people to go to her website and look at the Sept 11th thing she did with regards to the loose change pop mechanics debate (for the record I was at ground zero that morning 9/11/06 and I spoke to Jason Bermas almost right after he returned and saw it when I returned to Fl. She just sat there with her sour face as if she couldn't wait til it was over. Also I went on to the Democracy Now site and searched 9-11 in the archives and came up with a bunch of weak Michael Moore-type stuff. No building 7, no Pentagon, no NORAD, etc etc) she tried to talk around me in hopes that the crazy a*s people grabbing me would just hurry up and get me outta there so she can continue with her self righteous bullsh*t.

As for the last of Bob's comments about it being counter productive and embarrassing to you all. Well, lets put it this way. Like I said there were only 300 people there (5 or 6) i knew as truthers and about I'd say 70% of em were seniors who are down here in Florida on retirernment and only came out that night, because it reminded them of the good old days when they were hippies that used to think for themselves. But none of that matters cuz I didn't go there to make friends (which I did - I'll get to that in a sec). I went there to let Amy Goodman know I don't put her narrow a*s up on a pedestal, and that she can't get away with criticizing the media and she's no better, in fact she's worse, because we expect that from them. She's supposed to be the beacon of truth to the people that reject what CNN, FOX, ABC, CBS, MSNBC and the rest of those d*uchebags have to say.
Oh and I did reunite with an old friend two days later when I was trying to find out who stole my bullhorn in all the chaos. She is now the President of the Space Coast Alliance, the group that hosted Amy and after I apologized to her she said that she was sorry all that happened and that she was unaware of 911 truth and that she would love for me to school her and maybe even bring it into there organization. So eat your words, Bob. I did tell her to tell the people that 911 was an inside job, Dr. Bob only told half the story and as for waiting for the question and answers part I encourage eveyone to go to you tube and type in Amy Goodman 911 truth. The very first video i believe it's about a minute long is a 911 truther asking her at the book signing of this same stupid speech and she half a*s answers his question and I believe her brother who co-wrote their book "static" or some sh*t is right there at the end of the clip waving the guy away saying this isn't the "appropriate place". Check it out and share everything I've said with the people who read Bob's nonsense.

My page and pics! http://www.myspace.com/truthshallsetusfree

I'll end this by saying I do have alot of respect for Dr. Bowman and I plan to bust my ass once more in '08 when he runs again.

Mike

The Eleventh Day of Every Month

Wow, don't know what to make

Wow, don't know what to make of that. I think the dude got too agressive.

Too aggressive? Maybe.

And respectfully nodding to Dr. Bowman's wish that We act most civil, even in light of our current unrest...

Amy Goodman IS however completely missing the most important "human interest" piece of journalism, EVER!

WHY is she effectively "out to lunch" on this subject?

Why why why

I think the answer is clear. Judging by her "fair and balanced" pairing of the Loose Change boys with the Popular Mechanics shills, she is clearly not interested in doing anything other than give the appearance of being impartial while helping to cover up the truth. Think David Ray Griffin was contacted, or Kevin Ryan? Or Steven Jones, to appear with the PM shills? Or someone who could have asked them about the part in their book where they claim that metal can be heated up progressively to melting point just by being covered in rubble?

People like Amy Goodman do not deserve respect, they do not deserve attention, and what they are doing will not soon be forgiven or forgotten. She will have to live forever with her pathetic display of cowardice and yes, probably complicity in the coverup.

I'm with MLK on this one. There comes a time when silence is betrayal. Look at how that brainwashed fakeleft audience tried to shout down the truth being spoken out. They will be remembered as no better than the German citizenry who abandoned all sense of duty to resist agression because they could not be bothered to leave their comfort zones.

The holocaust against arabs and muslims unjustly framed is not stopped by ignorant people patting themselves on the back for how liberal and sympathetic they are to the victims of war. No, it takes quite a bit more than that--it means being able to see people like AG for what they are, and not being afraid to say so.

As the history of 9/11 is rewriten, a chapter will be reserved for Goodman and Chomsky and Cockburn. Theirs perhaps will be among the most infamous of post 9/11 legacies--the loyal opposition in charge of controlling the anger and dissent of a people wronged. They have had more than ample opportunity to educate themselves--ignorance is no longer an excuse for their actions. Theirs are serious crimes, and we will not forget. EVER.

Ya... a rhetorical "why"...

... but thanks for putting it into words.

It is humain for people to forgive and even possibly forget the mistakes and faulty logic of others... especially once a person acknowledges such with humility and quickly implements corrective action.

However I view Mike's "aggressiveness" as cathartic, natural, and honest.

Last fall, I sat for more than an hour listening to Amy lullaby a peace-nick audience here in DC, and found myself (regrettably) biting my tongue throughout her entire selfish promotion of her flaccid media.

Over and over, she recounted heart-string pulling stories of woe and sorrow... NEVER ONCE speaking to the root causes. I wanted to shout and toss a fist-full of deception dollars I had at the ready, into the gathered crowd. Yet I sat there, trying to adhere to the request for "calm and understanding" as advocated by many like Dr. Bowman.

I tell you all, my dear friends here in the truth movement... DO NOT miss such an opportunity like I did. We are quite possibly running out of these opportunities... and so long as you do not incite physical blows yourself... you will have my respect for speaking your mind... such as Mike did yelling "THEATER" in a crowded fire (a la, Abby Hoffman).

Amy is done. Playing some bullshit game of limp-lilly, KNOWING FULL WELL that a disgusting string of lies and deception are afoot prolonging war and pilling death... Amy Goodman makes herself one of the worst offenders for actively refusing to use the microphone in front of her face, to tell it like it is.

Warm market

I think it's important that we not alienate our "warm market." This basically means that these people are more open minded to our cause because they know what is going on. They already know a lot of the pieces of the puzzle. They know Geroge Bush and Cheney testified together, they know the government is not honest. These people can be spoken to rationally. They allready don't like George Bush. This should be an easy sale.

I was able to get a crew of Union Workers to watch Loose Change as easily as asking, "how do you feel about George Bush?"

Response: "He's part of the most corrupt government of them all."

Me: "Well this movie really shows a lot about what they knew about 9/11 before it was going to happen, you should get together with a bunch of the Union guys and check it out sometime. I'll buy the pizza."

Personally, I identify with Mike's.....

...outrage and frustration.....we should be angry at the Amy Goodmans' of the left, who purport to be independent and an opposition voice, yet have failed this country so badly....she's a fraud...

And, these events where you can confront and expose these people...and, most importantly, get in points like WTC7....offer that....

EXTREME OUTRAGE over the massive, murderous criminal conspiracy that was 9/11 is entirely justifiable. And I am grateful to Mike for expressing that.

So what if we're not polite in this setting? We're past that point. Every day that passes hurts the chances that accountability will happen in a meaningful way.

There is a time to be polite, and there is a time to be aggressively vocal. This time was the latter.

Thank you, Mike.

"Outrage is the blunt cousin of argument"

I understand the frustration, but I also understand why people steer clear of anger. To some people an angry guy dressed in a black shirt is a real turn-off, perhaps even frightening (imagine a cop with dark glasses with a bull horn reaching for the billy club). Amy once had her head almost crushed by a rifle butt in East Timor, but for the intervention of another brave reporter who lay on top of her to protect her, so I'll be patient with her too. Why we don't see more outrage from our citizens does surprise me, and perhaps your raw emotions will wake some folks up, but I've found that calm logic and common sense is generally more presuasive than passion in the long run.

which is exactly

why I think we need 10s of MILLIONS of angry, mad as hell citizens dresses in black all with bullhorns, or better yet ropes, torches and ball bats.

These treasonous POS and do nothing money grubbing politicians don't understand anything but violence, bout damn time to give it to them.

This country needs to be cleaned up.

If our founding fathers decided to march around with sign saying "Ye Olde King George can shoveith thine tax" and singing Kumbahyaith while never raising a Musket then we wouldn't have a USA today.

I, like everyone else would much prefer a totally non violent action where a few hundred 1000 people can change the course of history and gets the Media to start telling the truth and politicians to start investigations and the Bush administration to be Impeached and tried for War Crimes & Treason.

*snap* *snap* but then I woke up.

Sadly I don't see that happening and as long the Mainstream Media flatly refuse to tell the truth, do everything possible to cover up these crimes and downplay even what little crowd we do manage to gather then nothing is ever going to change and this will just blow over with nobody being held accountable.

Same as all the other False Flag operations in history.
What makes you think 9/11 truth is going to be any different?

Even though we know about these as documented FACT today, NOTHING ever become of it, hell people don't even care at all that they happened, they are rarely brought up.

9/11 is headed the way of Pearl Harbor, USS Maine, USS Liberty, Gulf of Tonkin, Lusitania, Operation Northwoods, etc.
Unless we break it loose and do so Overwhelmingly, Decisively, and NOW!.

That is going to require a take over of the mainstream Media and 10s of Millions in streets.

Nunyabiz

Please take a long walk and think about what you posted here.

Were the 9/11 Truth movement to become violent or even adopt violent rhetoric we would alienate the ENTIRE REST OF THE COUNTRY and marginalize ourselves overnight with many of us ending up in jail justifiably.

Is this what you want?

Upon reflection, I think you will see that there is a viable middle ground that we are pursuing and it is working, perhaps not as fast as some would like, but we are succeeding every day. Please refer to the work of MLK Jr. and Gandhi.

We don't need the msm to win this thing, we don't even need the alternative media to win this. Their help would speed things up, but we don't need them to succeed. We are making our own media and transcending the existing paradigm and that is why we are an unstoppable force.

We have truth and physics on our side and it is plain to all who look with and open mind/heart. All we have to do is keep reaching out to our fellow brothers and sisters and we will get the numbers we need.

(end sermon)

Are you going to AZ?

I hope that you and yours are well. Love is the only way forward.

I sincerely hope

you are correct.
I can see a totally non violent way of this working however that would require 10s of Million of Americans waking the phuck up and doing something about it.

and remember MLK and Gandhi were assassinated.

I just do not want 9/11 Truth to end up like EVERY SINGLE FALSE FLAG operation has in history.
Which is the perpetrators get off scott free and 80% of the American public still don't even have a clue it happened.
Right now at least 100 Million Americans KNOW this administration planned and executed this attack and its aftermath.
The fact that these Treasonous war criminals are still not even being Impeached is insane.

I think sometimes a certain amount of force is needed however.

Speaking of tactics....

....maybe a more evolved approach would be the "good cop/bad cop" dynamic...

At an event such as this, you've initially got the "confronter/bullhorner" who raises these otherwise avoided issues in front of the crowd....who will subsequently, undoubtedly, be removed....but the audience awareness has been raised...

Then, stage 2, you have other (polite) truthers offering the free 9/11 Truth DVD of their choice at the exit as people leave. I would include an insert explaining the movie and it's relevance to the Anti-War movement in the sleeve (9/11 being the "lynchpin" for ending the wars, etc.).

Just an idea for future activism of this sort...which is justifiably gaining in practice...and should continue to spread as the next politcal season warms up....

Mike Egerton's anger and frustration are clear for all to see

I think that vast majority of us can empathize with how he was feeling at that moment, I know I can. Emotions can easily well up at such moments and become overwhelming, human beings are emotional creatures, after all.

I fully support Mike as a fellow brother in the fight for 9/11 Truth.

Amy Goodman has been fully informed of the facts and reality of 9/11 for many years. Many people have calmly tried to engage her in a non-confrontational approach on many occasions.

On my recent trip to Memphis I had two opportunities to approach her one-on-one but chose not to. (While I am one of the friendlier people you'll ever meet, I am just under six feet tall and about 250lbs and I felt that I would be too physically intimidating in that situation for an effective dialogue to occur. My own judgment call.)

I think we should all keep in mind that Mike was choosing to confront a significant member of the media who is actively aiding in the cover-up of the mass murder of nearly 3,000 people (mostly Americans) on U.S. soil.

It took tremendous courage for Mike to stand up and confront her and her mob and we all should acknowledge that fact.

Upon reflection I'm sure Mike feels that he could've handled the situation in a more effective way or planned it out better.

I think he would've benefited enormously by having a group of fellow truthers with him to help him better plan and more effectively execute the very necessary confrontation of a prominent left gatekeeper like Amy Goodman. Ms. Goodman, the other gatekeepers and all public figures need to be confronted forcefully whenever they appear in public.

Silence is complicity and is NOT acceptable any longer.

We simply CAN NOT and MUST NOT sit down and shut up.

What we in the movement need to do is openly discuss this issue and develop a consensus strategy and set of tactics to use, always allowing for modification after each interaction. We need to become more organized and more supportive of each other if we are to achieve our goals of getting new investigations and bringing the 9/11 criminals to justice.

What Mike Egerton did is enormously valuable if we take this opportunity to analyze what happened and determine how it could've been more effective and add this knowledge to our collective tool kit of activism.

The 9/11 Truth movement is, first and foremost, about ACTIVISM.

Let us now begin the dialogue on how best to confront various public figures.

I hope that you and yours are all well.

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

I understand...

The frustration felt by Michael. Amy was talking about the corporate media silencing us, and she is just as guilty. Someone answered his question by saying it's "Politically insane." So is letting this country be overrun by fascism.

Here's a piece...

Amy ran a while back. Where's the follow-up Amy?

What does Sibel Edmonds say specifically about 9/11? Isn't that important to know Amy?

They are not targeting those who truly masterminded these terrible acts against the Americans and their best interest, their national security.

How is this "follow-upless" interview any different than 60 Minutes' "follow-upless" interview with Sibel?

yeah, that's a whole other jpg! Well, I suppose the gatekeepers could list all their hit pieces and/or lame attempts to appear fair and balanced. nice work!

Thanks for posting this and

Thanks for posting this and thank you, Mike.

I fully support Mike in this.

It amazes me that someone can see the mainstream media for what it is, somewhat see this administration for what it is and at the same time, they dismiss 9/11 as an inside job on any level.

tough call

On the one hand, if we are always polite, always waiting for our turn to speak, always being deferential to progressive celebrities like Goodman, then we probably will not get any response. On the other hand, it's clear Goodman is not going to come around to 9/11 Truth, and so maybe this type of tactic is not as beneficial to 9/11 Truth as it might seem. You might as well bring that bullhorn to one of Bush's speeches.

If I were you, I think I would have prepared a question about a specific aspect of 9/11, and then asked during question period. There's little she can or will say to a broad attack like, "Why won't you cover the 9/11 Truth Movement?" Perhaps gateway subjects would draw her in, instead? At the very least, I think more specific questions will elicit more sympathy from the audience.

Maybe say something like, "The events of 9/11 are being used by this administration as the emotional basis for launching a series of illegal foreign invasions, and for circumventing the constitution. Most progressives acknowledge the 9/11 Commission Report was deeply inadequate, some called it a whitewash. Don't you think the anti-war movement would benefit by demanding answers to lingering questions about what happened on 9/11, questions not answered by the 9/11 Commission Report?"

excellent question there sim

while i'm the first to trash goodman here, in front of her supporters that kind of approach may well be better to pique her supoprters' curiosity as to why their idol is made uncomfortable by such questions...

then again, since everyone will eventually know anyway, the kind of action seen in this video is not going to make or break the movement, and indeed has its place in our legitimate expression of anger and frustration with the complicity of the likes of goodman...

"since everyone will eventually know"

Only 10 percent of Americans believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I think that's an incredible statistic, given the corporate media's unwillingness to acknowledge the obvious fraudulence of the Warren Commission.

So, here we have American coup d'etat Number Two in 9/11. Will it take 40 years for the majority of Americans to understand 9/11 was an inside job?

Take a look at the CBS story I linked to. Notice which esteemed scholar they quoted in 2003 regarding JFK? Yep, Uncle Fetzer. CBS quotes him often. So does Fox. Apparently, so does BBC.

I don't want 9/11 Truth to end up in the same place as JFK, but look where it's at right now. I share your anger. I don't know how to express it constructively, except to talk about what we know about 9/11. I think we need people like Amy Goodman to come around to our side eventually, so I think we should not alienate her now.

A 1998 poll showed 77% of Americans believe the truth about JFK will always remain a mystery. That's a powerful statistic as well. I think that's what drives people such as Goodman and Chomsky: they think the truth about 9/11 will never be known, so they pretend it doesn't exist. That's defeatist, and that won't get us anywhere but a Haliburton detention center.

righteous indignation

This guy is right on. Righteously indignant, undetered, unswayed, courageously making his point in the "enemies court." Amy Goodman and her followers act like cult members who need to drown out the noise of TRUTH. Bravo Mike. May we all be inspired by your courage and your righteous indignation. (yes it deserved to be repeated 3 times.)

Frankly...

I'm with Mike.

And AG completely avoided answering his first polite question.

Things seem to have gotten a little out of hand only when some goonies attempted to manhandle him. He rightly told them to keep their hands off. Only then did Mike get "agressive" as a defensive measure. He had a Right to do so. And, perhaps considering how it is increasingly looking like the left gatekeepers are actually complicit in facilitating the cover up, maybe a little more heat, like Mike's, is what they deserve.

And just who stole the bulhorn anyway?

Creeps.

Mike & others should ask Goodman about who advised her to wait

on West Broadway on 9/11/01 about 5:20 p.m. to watch WTC-7 implode!

Who were the accessories-in-crime who told Amy Goodman & others the foreknowledge that WTC-7 was going to be pulled?

Goodman can been seen & heard near the end of this short clip running & yelling, "Oh God" as WTC-7 comes down:
