I was hoping someone would post this.

Self defeating

This program damages its own credibility by the obvious way in which it prevents the viewers from seeing a clear and prolonged image of the man alleged to be bin Laden as he appears in the post-9/11 videos. Does the BBC think that people aren't going to notice the fast, flashy, reduced size, and distorted treatment that the BBC has deliberately given these videos? If they want to build a case that bin Laden may still be alive, and that the videos are authentic, that's fine; but this is not the way to go about doing it.

It is 75% BS

as expected.

If Not Me? Who? If Not Now? When?

Do your home work. The BBC gives you lots of starting points...

bonsoir ,
my computer is at last working properly again and I am making copies of this BBC video as I hope you are doing. If you do not know how to do it contact me.

A thougth Bin Laden ( a CIA operative for me ) is not scared to defy American power, is not scared either to be in public but surprising enough he has not been in public since 2001. He is scared of no one and as he exists no longer since 2001, we can consider that he is dead.

Wake up America ! Wake up France ! Wake up the world ( Jews , Christians, Muslims, etc and the ordinary citizen like me !) to the fact that we are being lied to as in all history ( ex AMD in Irak, "The Tonkin incident" , etc) and if we do not do our home work we will not get the truth or justice for the murder of our loved ones (Americains, Afghanistans, Irakiens, Iraniens, etc ... !)

We must by peaceful means bring George Bush and company ( Tony Bliar , etc ) before an international court to answer for their crimes. Unlike Hitler, the murderer of JFK etc we want these criminals ALIVE and not DEAD to face the charges against them. By this way we can understand how they did it, with whom, how etc so that we can pass laws to prevent such things happening again.

Yours John

PS. Before I was British citizen and I hope one day the BBC will do their job as they knew how to do it forty years ago !

Nine Starz

Excellent job, BBC. This is by far the best propaganda video you have put out so far. Where do you begin....?

Up through the first ten minutes I almost wanted to give them credit for attempting to be fair. Not.

Bringing in Bob Baer was a neat twist. But where was Seymour Hirsch when talking about Bin Ladden's escape? Hirsch can nail THAT story in ten seconds and was certainly the most adamant and animated critic of that debacle.

The first clue of the primary intent of this broadcast came early, when just after Baer said something, the narrator said that (paraphrased), "western intelligence would have no reason the fake the Bin Ladden tapes." The narrator didn't say that western intell "claims" it has no reason to fake the tapes, but that it DEFINITELY has no reason to fake them. Excuse me for being anal, but the distinction is HUGE. The narrator represents the voice of the broadcaster, in this case the BBC, so every syllable is scrutinized. Things said by people being interviewed can be dismissed as this or that person's opinion, but things said by the narrator have to be defended by the network. The juxtaposition with Baer is critical too, because it's drawing upon the "authority" of Baer to unconsciously validate the wild claim, a "creative license" that allows the BBC to imply that Baer holds this position, without implying it at all. The BBC has been very good in their clever use of this device in all of their hit pieces.

And what about Gul? How the f*%# can you interview Gul and not ask him what he meant when just after it happened he claimed on TV that 911 was an inside job orchestrated from within the US Govt? The oversight is inexcusable for a "conspiracy" investigation. Once I realized they were never going to ask him THAT question (or maybe they did ask him and they edited out his answer), I finished my dinner and laughed the rest of the way through.

I think the primary objective behind this broadcast was to counter the "Osama is Dead" sentiment with "Whether Osama is dead or alive, he and his followers are dangerous and we need to act as if he's alive." I hate to say it, but I think the BBC did a good job confusing the issues enough to make that claim sound reasonable to an unsuspecting public.

EXACTLY!
