Guantanamo detainees say they planned September 11: report

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The five detainees at the U.S. Guantanamo Bay prison camp charged with plotting the September 11 attacks have filed a document expressing pride at their accomplishment and accepting responsibility for the deaths of nearly 3,000 people, The New York Times reported on Monday.
The document, which the newspaper said may be released publicly on Tuesday, describes the five men as the "9/11 Shura Council," and says their actions were an offering to God, according to excerpts of the document read to a reporter by an unidentified government official, the report said.
"'To us,' the official read, 'they are not accusations. To us they are a badge of honor, which we carry with honor,'" the paper said.
The document is titled "The Islamic Response to the Government's Nine Accusations," the military judge at the U.S. Naval base said in a separate filing, obtained by the Times, that described the detainees' document.
The document was filed on behalf of the five men, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, who has called himself the mastermind of the attacks.
Some of the men had said earlier that they planned the 2001 attacks and that they wanted to be martyrs. The reason for the new filing, which the report said reached the military court on March 5, was not clear. The brief court order describing the filing said the men sought no legal action.

The widow subsequently underwent exhaustive interrogation in the custody of FBI officials, during which she revealed details of people who visited her husband, and of his other contacts and plans. News of the death of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed was intentionally suppressed so that officials could play on the power of his name to follow up leads and contacts..."
If he is dead, then that's quite the puppet-show trial.

According to Corporate Media today, five alleged Al Qaeda leaders in Guantanamo have admitted to have planned the attacks of 11 September 2001, they call themselves "terrorists" and are proud of it. Among them is the individual designated as Khaled Sheikh Mohammed.
What is so funny about these news?
First, no Muslims participated in the attacks of 11 September. So it is funny to think that Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, the chap with the huge beard, would be able to get non-Muslims (kaffir) to commit a suicide operation in the name of Islam. Imagine the scenario in your mind and you'll have a good laugh.
Second, we do not really know whether the person presented to the military court at Guantanamo is actually the real Khaled Sheikh Mohammed or a fake Muslim. The judges have never met the real KSM. And no person who actually met him has been allowed to come to Gitmo and meet his old friend and identify him. That's why he was not permitted to testify at the Moussaoui trial. Moussaoui may have been able to distinguish between a fake and real KSM. According to his CV, the real KSM should know well English because he obtained an engineering degree from a US university. The chap in Gitmo, presented as KSM, cannot make a single correct sentence in English (as can be ascertained from the transcript of his "confession"). The real KSM was not religious. According to newspapers, he was a playboy who loved sex and booze. The chap at Gitmo is presented to us as a very religious Muslim. This shows us that Gitmo is not so terrible after all: It's a real circus, where fake Muslims and fake judges play for the gallery.
Third, no Muslim would call himself a "terrorist" (that's what Corporate Media reported that KSM said). Even Muslims who consider it justified to commit terrorist acts, do not regard themselves as "terrorists", but as freedom fighters. I find it funny that the script-righters did not find anything more convincing than such a self-incrimination.
The funniest of all is that many people actually believe this nonsense. They will tell us that, yes, Khaled Sheikh just forgot his English, and yes, he turned religious because he became more moral, and yes, he planned 9/11 in such a way that no Muslim names would appear on passenger lists, and yes, he is a superman because Allah is on his side. And they also will believe that he almost assassinated the Pope, single-handedly: After all he said it, and he must know.
However, the fate of the five people at Guantanamo, who - we are told - called themselves "terrorists" will not be a joke. Because they do not represent what we are told they are, and are coerced or induced to play a fake role. And that's a dangerous game. So they might one day be eliminated by the US, so no one could interview them and find out who they really are. Please keep watching what the US government is going to do with these people, who are totally innocent of any relation to 9/11.

This won't kill the 9/11 Truther Movement. That's because the movement is not grounded in reality and too many people have too much of an emotional investment in conspiracy to let it go.
But the confessions voluntarily given by the 5 Guantanamo detainees who are being charged with planning the 9/11 attacks should seal the deal for all but the looniest of 9/11 truthers:

For the real 9/11 truther whackjobs, they will spin this as some kind of plot to deflect attention from the real culprits; Bush and the neocons. We might ask these guys to get a life and come out from under the bed but then they wouldn't have anything to do with themselves. They'd have to go out and get a job - much too normal for them. So in the meantime, they spin ever kookier conspiracies and ignore all evidence to the contrary - including this.
This appears to be a challenge of some kind to the Obama administration who want to close Gitmo but don't know where to put the prisoners and has stopped the military tribunals even though they have no clue about how to proceed in dispensing justice.
Maybe they'll just make them swear on the Koran to be good little terrorists and not do it again, then let them go. Makes as much sense as anything we've heard from the Obama administration so far.
