Naomi Klein, whom I have a great deal of respect and admiration for, is being more diplomatic than I would be. She knows that in reality this IS a multi-trillion dollar theft and seizure of power in broad daylight. It does fit right into her shock doctrine theory. In part 2 of this interview, and in other interviews, she admits that they sometimes manufacture emergencies in order to "push through" legislation and policies. In this interview she specifically references the occupation of Iraq as a manufactured crisis. I seem to recall that in an earlier interview she observed that this bailout emergency was also contrived. These observations by her are a departure from her shock doctrine theory. As I understand it, she originally theorized that there were policies and legislation waiting on the shelf for naturally occurring disasters or disasters caused by other entities outside of their direct control. When the disasters occurred, they then seized the opportunity to implement the "ready to go" policies and legislation while the country was in shock and not thinking rationally. They took advantage of the chaotic frenzy to ram through self serving legislation and policies that we as a country wouldn't tolerate in a more normal situation. Now she says they may, as in this case, even contrive the precipitous disaster. WIth that epiphany in mind, I would hope she would take another long and careful look at the events of 911. Maybe she will then realize as we do, that it, too, was a manufactured disaster.
