  2. Part 2: Why Should you start a 9/11 Blog or Website? Part 2--Understanding Page Rank

By Arabesque

A 911blogger user named Orangutan writes:

"I didn't understand the concept of linking an article in multiple places means higher search ranking. That makes sense."

This is an important concept. How does a Google search actually work? How do they determine what websites get higher rankings in search results? Well it turns out that they invented a mathematical formula to determine website rankings. Wikipedia explains:

"PageRank is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references. The numerical weight that it assigns to any given element E is also called the PageRank of E and denoted by PR(E)."

Rankings go from 0-10. 911blogger currently has a rating of 6. My blog has a rating of 4 (so does truthaction.org). Now, as you can imagine, if I have a high traffic website and I link to another website, I am increasing the visibility of that website more than linking from a website that has no visitors. You can download the google toolbar, which will disclose the page rank of any website you visit. Wikipedia explains that, "The Google Toolbar's PageRank feature displays a visited page's PageRank as a whole number between 0 and 10. The most popular websites have a PageRank of 10. The least have a PageRank of 0."

There are other important factors for page ranking. If you link to yourself (i.e. with your own website) a million times, it will not affect page rank. Why? Because sites with their own IP address do not contribute to the value of a website link. This is pretty clever because Google realized that if you linked to your website a million times on your own site, you could artificially make it appear higher in search rankings. Which is why Google designed this formula to avoid this potential issue.

For example, if I had 1000 links from just truthaction.org or just 911blogger to my website, these links would all have the same IP address. This means that having many links from the same website is not as valuable as having links from many different websites. The variety and number of websites is what will increase page rank, visitors, and exposure for 9/11 truth. In other words, if we all just hanged out at 911blogger and didn't make our own blogs, we would have limited exposure. By creating separate sites we are significantly increasing exposure for not only sites like 911blogger, but for 9/11 awareness, which is what really matters.

Which it turns out, this is another incentive to create your own 9/11 blog or website. By doing this, you are increasing the visibility of sites like 911truth.org and 911blogger when you link to them, assuming that you add links to these sites.

Let's take for example, the 11th day of every month campaign. If all of the photos were only posted at truthaction.org, not many people will come across this activism. By having thousands of 9/11 activists creating their own blogs, posting their own activism and linking to sites like truthaction.org and 911blogger.com, the 9/11 truth campaign's exposure would be increased by a significant degree.

IP and Page Rank

I'm trying to find a source for this statement:

"There are other important factors for page ranking. Which is why Google designed this formula to avoid this potential issue."

Unfortunately, I can't find a source for this at the moment but I remember reading it and it makes sense. If you link to yourself, it is not a good indicator that other websites "value" your content. It would be easy to "cheat" by linking to your own website. What brings visibility to web content is that it is linked to by other websites.

Think a start your own 9/11 blog campaign can't make a difference?

A 9/11 blog creation and linking campaign would work and bring more visibility to 9/11 truth. Understanding how the internet works and understanding how to effectively promote 9/11 information is how the 9/11 truth movement can be successful.

As a funny side note:

"A Google bomb (also referred to as a 'link bomb') is Internet slang for a certain kind of attempt to influence the ranking of a given page in results returned by the Google search engine, often with humorous or political intentions.[1] Because of the way that Google's algorithm works, a page will be ranked higher if the sites that link to that page use consistent anchor text. A Google bomb is created if many sites link to the page in this manner. Google bomb is used both as a verb and a noun. The phrase "Google bombing" was introduced to the New Oxford American Dictionary in May 2005.[2] Google bombing is closely related to spamdexing, the practice of deliberately modifying HTML pages to increase the chance of their being placed close to the beginning of search engine results, or to influence the category to which the page is assigned in a misleading or dishonest manner."

"After just over two years, Google has finally defused the "Google Bomb" that has returned US President George W. Bush at the top of its results in a search on miserable failure. The move wasn't a post-State Of The Union Address gift for Bush. Instead, it's part of an overall algorithm change designed to stop such mass link pranks from working."

New Website in New Zealand

Thank you for your tireless work Arabesque,

Your call to start our own blogs has finally energised me to build the website to go with our 911 forum in NZ it aims to become a NZ oriented 911 library so that our local 911 truthers can send people to the site to get the information they need to educate themselves.

Is bare bone and still needs a lot of info added but at least it's up and running.

Thanks again

And adictive

you're so right.

My blogs developed with me and chronicled my growing awareness of 911 and the Money Masters.

It is also highly addictive in a very special and positive way.

My tiny New Zealand Aotearoa blog now gets some 8500 hits a month. Enough to earn me a place in the top forty most active political blogs next month and well above even the leader of the biggest opposition leader John Key who hopes to become the next Prime minister of New Zealand. and who happens... to be a NWO $ 50 million Wall street banker who was one of only 4 upon invitation only "advisors" to the Federal reserve of New York from 1999 until March 2001 when he returned to NZ, instantly beciming the party finance specialist and soon after the leader of the National party even though he had n't spend a day in politics.

I reckon that is not bad for an anonymous recently imported 911 truther who only started this blog sometime September last year. LOL.

Get going. Waddajawaitingfor!!!

I was able to awaken the 911 11th of every month truth action movement here in NZ.
In 4 months we have located truthers in every major city and they are coming out, sometimes feeling lonely and scared and isolated and finally knowing they are not alone. It is awesome. I sit on my bed with a laptop and I actually achieve change, real change in the real world. Join us. You really won't regret it.

bare bone

Bare bone or not I think you did a great job. Keep up the good work. We truthers need all the help we can get. Time is not on our side. The Globalists are insane. They want war with Russia.............Insanity.

Blogs and Inbound links: How they affect search rankings

http://www.livevideo.com/video/40CF8B6BC6E14B1AB23994ED73977F75/in-bound...

"page rank is influenced significantly by the amount of people that link to your site... you do want external links that link to your site... these can come from a number of sources. The top four sources would be blogs, authoritative sites (government sites), articles... and press releases. My preference among all of those... is blogs. Links from blogs is an easy way to get links back to your site."

In other words, by creating 9/11 blogs and collectively linking to 9/11 websites (like 911blogger, 911truth.org, and 911research), you are increasing the visibility of these and other 9/11 truth websites to new visitors. By cross posting your blogs at 911blogger and your own site, you are increasing the visibility of 9/11 information.
