The Washington Post covered the L.A. conference today:

LOS ANGELES -- About 1,200 people gathered over the weekend for what organizers billed as the largest conference on the conspiracy theories that consider the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to be a result of official negligence or a U.S. attempt to incite world war.

"There are so many prominent people . . . who have stated that the evidence is overwhelming that 9/11 was an inside job," syndicated radio talk show host Alex Jones said at a news conference.

Conspiracy theorists are convinced that the U.S. military command "stood down" on the day of the attacks, that the hijackers were trained at U.S. military bases and that the World Trade Center towers collapsed because of a series of controlled explosions set before they were hit by two hijacked planes. Suggested motives include expected benefits for U.S. arms and oil conglomerates, and revolutionary plans for a new world order headed by the United States.

The theories have been derided by critics as wild and far-fetched. The official Sept. 11 commission cited government intelligence lapses in the failure to prevent the attacks by al-Qaeda that killed nearly 3,000 people. A 10,000-page investigative report by the National Institute of Standards and Technology held that jet-fuel fires led to the twin towers' collapse."

I think the problem with

I think the problem with Markos is that he believes that if the Dems can retake congress and the white house, everything that's wrong with our current political system will be resolved (likewise he doesn't want voters to be turned-off by 9/11 'consperacy' charges). Fair enough.

Unfortunetly, Kos doesn't "get it". He doesn't understand that the whole system has become a farce and that Democratic politicians are just as guilty as covering up the truth as Republicans and the mainstream media. Oh well. It's his site, and he HAS done his part in getting thinking and fired up...

That 9/11 health issues are being given some attention is certainly helpful to the cause of the 9/11 Truth movement. But let's not characterize anything that involves genuine human suffering, especially of the first responders, as "cool"- it comes across as unseemly and heartless, even though that's not your intention.

In some earlier thread Jon linked to the BBC documentary "Why the Twin Towers Fell". I went on to watch it.

Here are some of the problems with it.

It does not discuss any of the evidence pointing to controlled demolition (the very short collapse times, the symmetry of the collapses, the unprecedented degree of pulverization, the eyewitness accounts, etc.).

It does not even mention the destruction of WTC 7.

It notes that few scientists were able to examine the steel debris before it was sold as scrap to the Far East, but does not discuss why hundreds of scientists did not meticulously examine the steel instead.

The demonstration at the end was quite funny in that the structure set up by the scientists toppled instead of "pancaking". ;-)

In the documentary a WTC employee was interviewed who saw the plane coming towards the tower he was in. Aren't there many other such eyewitness accounts? And what about Pavel Hlava's video, for example?
