"Five years after the dogs of war slipped the leash - with more than 1.2 million dead in Iraq, countless millions maimed, homeless and hungry; Afghanistan a smouldering wreck of a nation seething in bitter resentment; a legacy of depleted uranium deforming the next generation and blowing it’s cancerous death sentence in the wind – our hard-earned tax dollars are still at work wreaking devastation and destruction.

But who really cares? As one observant Aussie put it: “Oh yeah, we all know 9/11 was an inside job, but we’re over that…” Sure, it doesn’t really matter – just as long as we’ve got cold stubbies in the esky, meat on the barbie and the footy on the telly. The facts of the 9/11 events don’t surprise many people I meet, though most prefer not to let the truth get in the way of the comfortable numbness of silent complicity.

Yet like the lone voice of the fearless child who laughed at the naked Emperor when the chattering herd were all praising his imaginary regal dress, an assorted rabble of persistent 9/11 Truthers, Sydney Truth Action, has held up this issue with the tenacity of a hungry dog with a bone. Taking the issue to the streets on the 11th of every month, in discussions on blogs and radio broadcasts this group of activists is part of a growing Australian movement of businessmen, academics, mums and students who are not afraid to stand for the truth.

Now taking the issue to the next level, the producers of the ShadowPlay documentary have joined the Sydney Truth Action group to present the first ever Australian 9/11 TruthNow Conference to be held in Sydney on March 14-16, with a smaller event on the Sunshine Coast in Maleny on March 22nd. Hosted by Sydney truth activist John Bursill and Bayard Condon, with prominent speakers from Australia, America, Canada and Japan, the conference will feature a preview of ShadowPlay, which is currently in negotiation of contracts with a major international distributor and broadcasters for release later this year.

With many productions now revealing details of the facts behind the attacks, including the excellent new Italian production, Zero, released by Mercury Media, ShadowPlay presents a unique perspective, exploring the question of 9/11 and American Empire. Focusing on why 9/11 happened, rather than what happened, ShadowPlay also looks at the important question of why – even when faced with compelling evidence of what actually happened – so many intelligent and discerning people still prefer to buy the lie of rabid Arabs with boxcutters. The uncomfortable truth sticks painfully in the gullets of those who suckle on the security of the myth that respected leaders could be never be so evil that they would offer the lives of their own people as a blood-sacrifice to the gods of war.

The evidence that 9/11 was a false flag operation, contrived by a nefarious faction within the Bush administration is now overwhelming, and increasingly people are recognizing that what happened on September 11, 2001, was effectively an American palace coup that enabled a covert cabal to steer the warmongering policies of their shadow-puppet President, George W. Bush, in pursuit of long established blueprints for global domination.

It’s hard enough for well meaning and trusting people to accept this much, especially when they are constantly being instructed by experts of all ilks to believe the unbelievable, sit down and shut up. To do otherwise, we are repeatedly warned, would be a clear sign of conspiraloonacy – a serious infectious disease that could potentially lead to incarceration in a penal or psychiatric institution for the purpose of Orwellian re-education, with extraordinary rendition and waterboarding as an optional extra for the most recalcitrant or the unfortunate individual of the wrong ethnia or darker skin tone.

So to go even one babystep further and consider our responsibility towards the nations we have attacked and the people we have destroyed on the basis of our complicity in the 9/11 lies, is enough to send sensible people screaming for the vicarious pacifier of the vacuous exploits of the Bold and the Brainless.

But before the next turn of the screw ratchets the global conflict to the next level of bloodletting, and enables anti-sedition legislation already in place to be enacted, targeting for eradication even the most moderate opposition – as in Chile and Guatemala – it is imperative that we speak out with non-violent non-co-operation, just as Ghandi would have done in our situation.

This is the aim of the Oz 2008 9/11TruthNow Conference. Australia, like Canada, has gone to war on the basis of a mutual defence pact with the United States. But what if America was not attacked by freedom-fearing Arabs? What if the unthinkable is true, that this was an evil contrived from within the very power structures that our societies depend upon? If this is indeed true – and we all have a responsibility to check the facts – then we are complicit in treason and war crimes of the greatest magnitude.

Two highly respected Australian academics will present the smoking gun: Dr David Leifer presents evidence from an architect’s perspective. Dr Frank Legge, who works closely with Prof Steven E. Jones to expose the facts of the controlled demolition of the three WTC towers, will examine the implosion of Building 7, together with new research from Prof Jones on the extremely high temperatures found below the rubble – impossible to have occurred as a result of supposed jet fuel fires.

Canadian Ian Woods, editor of Global Outlook magazine and associate producer of ShadowPlay, with the new release of his book, 9/11: Solving the Greatest Crime of All Time, will turn Sherlock’s magnifying glass on the forensic evidence of the crime. Canadian media critic and author Barrie Zwicker and 9/11 TV’s Ken Jenkins will consider the media cover-up, the intention and effects of this false flag, psychological operation.

Lt Col Bob Bowman, (USAF Rtd) – former director of the Star Wars, Advanced Space Program Development under the Reagan administration, will reveal the real motive for the criminal and treasonous 9/11 attacks, and Australia’s Senate Candidate, courageous Ruth Russell who risked her life as a Human Shield in Iraq will call on the Australian government to end wars of imperial aggression. Other speakers include G. Edward Griffin of Freedom Force International and filmmaker Dave von Kleist.

There will also be a special appearance by Japanese Democratic Parliamentarian Yukihisa Fujita who set a precedent by questioning the official fable of 9/11 in the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Japanese government, where he challenged President Bush’s request for assistance from Japan to supply the US military effort in Afghanistan.

At the satellite event in Maleny on the Sunshine Coast, the TruthNow Conference will be joined by Dallas Cowboys football star, Mark Stepnoski, the first major sports celebrity to publicly raise concerns about the veracity of the official 9/11 account.

With a well-deserved reputation as a servile lapdog of American imperial aggression under former Prime Minister John Howard, Australia’s new government now has the opportunity to follow a path of greater honour and integrity. In light of the overwhelming evidence that that there never was a national attack on America by Afghanistan or Iraq, and that 9/11 was a contrived event to wrongly accuse Muslims; a false pretext used as a casus beli for intervention in strategic and oil-drenched nations, I and the other organisers of the Australian TruthNow Conference call on the government and people of Australia to re-examine the events of 9/11 and to end this nation’s complicity in international war crimes. There are already too many people who are sick of picking shrapnel out of their babies’ faces to find it marked “Made in USA”, and to the extent that we are prepared to stand in the name of compassion for those who suffer as a consequence of our silent complicity, then truth will prevail, and justice will prevail."
