Radar Magazine Hit Piece Obscures 9/11 Crimes to Revel in Conspiracy ‘Cult-ure’

Radar Magazine Hit Piece Obscures 9/11 Crimes to Revel in Conspiracy ‘Cult-ure’

A new feature in Radar magazine– a sort of irreverent pop-sploitation scandal mag– goes to great lengths to infiltrate the exploits of the 9/11 truth movement– not to uncover the truth itself– but rather, to dissect the peculiar mannerisms of the activists who nest inside the ‘conspiracy cult.’

The examining article is indeed a sophisticated, though smacking, consideration of the truth movement– opting out of merely trying to disprove conspiracy claims, as previous hit pieces have, instead working quietly to undermine the quirky anti-heroes it builds up in radio host Alex Jones and We Are Change founder Luke Rudkowski–painted as nearly-mythical personalities fiercely hung on sinister 9/11 suspicions.

Though the article does manage to ridicule and misrepresent– such as demanding that Jones name historical events that aren’t conspiracies (instead of the other way around) and telling his staff "to get some sun"– Radar does seem to have a certain reverence for the effectiveness Rudkowski, Jones and their odd cast of companions have had in confronting politicians and forcing media attention in the name of 9/11 Truth.

Jebediah Reed, the article’s author, casts aside both the strong evidence against the official 9/11 report (though Radar concedes that "Giuliani does seem to suggest that he had been warned") and the relevance of victims’ family members and suffering rescue workers who still hold questions about 9/11 and who continue to pursue justice...

Nice piece, Aaron!

Hey, man... nice shot.

original article link/scan

original article link/scan would be nice.

Otherwise this is just some kind of kudos sheet for Luke and Alex, no?

Nice Filter reference, Rep. Did you know the song was made after Bud Dwyer?

UTNE Reader deals with 9/11 as well.

http://www.utne.com/2008-01-01/Politics/Towers-of-Babble.aspx

I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with the UTNE Reader but supposedly it is a pretty prevalent progressive magazine. I noticed an article on The 9/11 Truth Movement in its January-February 2008 issue. Here it is... I found it to be both negative and positive in areas...

“This is why the 9/11 Truth movement is brilliant,” Robin says, “because we’re on the web and we have DVDs and we’re out handing things out”—specifically, he says, in places they aren’t wanted. “We’re doing what I’d like to call civil informationing.”

"There is no end to the variety of Truthers’ claims, but most of them believe that the United States government perpetrated 9/11 in an elaborate conspiracy to bring about the decomposition of civil liberties and the fortification of the American empire in the Middle East. They think this because, since 9/11, we’ve witnessed the decomposition of civil liberties and the fortification of the American empire in the Middle East."

I have the hard copy at home, and I'm still trying to figure out what kind of readership this magazine has. *Update: It's over 200,000!!

UNTE

Unte Reader is a very literate crowd, something like Granta in Britain.
They even take stuff they think is good from other sources and reprint it.
It ain't 'People'.

I thought it was fair.

The woman Rebecca mentioned in the article has a powerful poem called "A Tribute to Fresh Kills."

fair?

"It's time for Truthers to put up or shut up, in other words—it's been six years since 9/11 and they've yet to produce anything coherent."

I would hardly call that fair. The body of evidence we have amassed is staggering, and the social movement we have spawned is growing towards historical proportions. Other than that...

Don't let a hit piece throw you off by calling us intelligent. That article has been emailed to me by a number of people looking to explain why we're wrong, so I hesitate to call it fair or benign.

:P

yeah, you're right

It's not completely contemptuous and mocking, but that doesn't make it fair. Like you say, that's not good enough given all we have shown.

Really, "it's been six years since 9/11 and [the government has] yet to produce anything coherent."

"It's time for Truthers to

"It's time for Truthers to put up or shut up, in other words—it's been six years since 9/11 and they've yet to produce anything coherent."

That part pissed me off royal.

I pay no attention

I pay no attention to 9/11 truth hit pieces. I wouldn't waste my time reading this one either. 9/11 is so obviously an inside job that a 10 year old could figure it out. The official story is almost laughable except for the fact that it has caused so much trouble world wide with the bogus war on terror. Anyone who still believes the official story isn't paying attention or needs head head examined.
