 On January 22, 2008, N.Y. Times best selling author, Steve Alten and Sweetwater Books will release The Shell Game, a cautionary tale, written in the guise of fiction, that exposes the hidden truths behind the events of September 11th and the invasion of Iraq, along with the neo-conservative agenda to wage a new war in Iran. Meticulously researched, Alten’s tour de force focuses its plot on the end of oil and the next 9/11 event, election fraud and the corporate influence that is tainting America. Its main character experiences the dangers of the Patriot Act and the effects of torture, along with the double standards that allow the Saudi monarchy to use oil profits to foster hatred toward the West and Israel.

By writing the story as a novel, this established mainstream author brings our own important messages into mainstream America. Should the book become a big best seller, it would drive these issues into the limelight during the most important election in our nation’s history. In addition, the book’s success would raise all of the 9/11 organizations’ boats. The author’s appearances on mainstream venues such as Today Show, Good Morning America, Daily Show, David Letterman, and the Tonight Show, along with hundreds of radio, TV News, and print media will be used to generate renewed interest in our own investigative areas of interest and could very well lead to hearings while influencing the 2008 elections. Such is the power of a focused mainstream message.

A major public relations plan is already underway to launch The Shell Game onto best seller lists. Front table space has been secured in all Barnes & Nobel and Borders Bookstores. A first run of 40,000 books has been ordered (31,000 books have already been pre-sold into stores).

Although this book is a work of fiction, it is jam-packed with facts about 9/11, the Patriot act, the failure of the 9/11 Commission, and the creation of Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. When this book is published, a whole new audience will be exposed to these facts, facts normally found only in non-fiction by David Ray Griffin and read mostly by people already in the know. Additionally, this book will be promoted heavily in the mainstream media, in outlets we've had little representation in the past without the help of big names like Charlie Sheen, Ed Asner, and Rosie O'Donnell.

The author has assured me that he will do everything he can while promoting this book to increase visibility of the movement and to "expose these criminals and what they did". Steve Alten has sold millions of books and he routinely ends up on the New York Times Bestseller List so the potential here is huge. I've mentioned this at blogger before, but just recently they added a book description to this title:

I know it's difficult to believe that anyone from the NY Times could publish a truly anti-establishment book, but the description offers some pretty strong hype.

Just something to keep an eye on. I have my pre-order already.

That's the best 911 news I've heard in quite a while...

...And I'm so pleased that Drs. David Ray Griffin , Steven Jones and others like Kevin Ryan and Richard Gage are keeping the pressure on so admirably and consistently.

It's encouraging, not only to hear about a book being written about 911 and Peak Oil (both!) by a recognized and popular best-selling author, but to actually SEE the cover already produced ...that's a good feeeling.

Judging by what SomeBigGuy has written, this the version of events that I have pretty much bought into for some years now. Others, I know, tend to emphasize Israel or The Illuminati or something; I tend to look at the events of 911 as something that has occurred in a broader context of forecasted diminishing world oil supplies. I couldn't be more pleased with the blurb I've read. It looks like I'll be buying a bunch of these books for other people.

Much appreciation to Steve Alten. What's the forum version of picking someone up and carrying them around on your shoulders? There ought to be a smiley for that.

I hope Alten shows that there was another way

I hope Steve Alten at least mentions in his book that there was, and still is, another way to beat Peak Oil, and that is Alternative Energy development. Brazil has shown that it is possible for a large country to do it. They have a zero net energy import. That is, they still import some oil but balance that by exporting some ethanol. They thus provide all of their energy needs themselves.

There are many promising and viable Alternative Energy methods out there and it is the true technical challenge to those of us living at this time. Unfortunately, it looks like those with power behind the scenes didn't feel like letting the rest of us vote on the matter and used a deception (the events of 911) to get us to back their covert plans.

Even if Peak Oil turns out to be a scam

in terms of 9/11 truth, what difference does it make?

From what I understand of the powers that be, for Peak Oil to have been a motive behind 9/11 all that would be required to act upon it is a belief in its very probable existence (exactly the way the U.S. invaded Iraq, acting upon the very probable existence of weapons of mass destruction).

Scene: Studio Set

A group of people hide between some rocks while they are under fire.

DANNING: Hurry up Major, we need that force shield!

MONROE: I'm trying sir, but something's nullifying the electrolyte composite on the shield generator!

LEVANT: Try reversing the polarity.

MONROE: It's not working.

DANNING: What do you mean it's not working?

MONROE: I mean, it's not working.

DANNING: God help us!

DELUISE: Buy it! Dededededede. Anddd cut!

The actors get up.

Martin and Peter DeLuise are standing by a screen.

MARTIN: What? That was awful. We have to do it again.

DELUISE: Check the gate. We are moving on. Print everything! Nice job, people. Good moves.

MARTIN: Yeah, um, ah. Yeah, ah, ah, great job everybody. Yeah.

Martin walks off.

TITLES:

Scene: Briefing room

SG1 are watching the screen.

Hammond switches the tape off.

DANIEL: Well that looked familiar.

O'NEILL: I don't see it.

CARTER: Martin's involved in this?

HAMMOND: He sold the idea to the studio. He's currently working on production as a creative consultant.

TEAL'C: Then Martin Lloyd has seriously breached your security.

HAMMOND: Not necessarily.

DANIEL: What? He obviously got the whole thing from his knowledge of the Stargate program.

O'NEILL: If the Air Force didn't want it to happen they wouldn't have let it go this far.

HAMMOND: Plausible deniability. In the event of a future breach of security, we'll be able to point to this television programme. That is, if it stays on the air.

O'NEILL: Still doesn't change the fact that Marty sold us out.

HAMMOND: His motivations are of little concern at the moment. Our first priority is to find out everything he knows about that ship. Colonel, you're Wormhole X-treme's new Air Force consultant.

No matter what other research in the future, those trying to hide the truth will always start with "you're getting fiction mixed up with the real world.

Sounds like he's trying to capitalize on a large subculture to boost sales of some pulp fiction.

Does he have any connection to the 9/11 Truth movement? Has he been active in some way?

Opening minds.

Your skepticism is warranted, especially in these cynical times. But there is a large portion of the population whose minds will be opened to viewpoints they wouldn't previously consider, and as we all know, once your mind is opened to the truth, there is no going back to living in Zelikow's parallel universe.
The net result hopefully, would be growth of the already viral Truth Movement.

Addendum

Having just read the intro and excerpt, http://www.stevealten.com/shell_game.htm I see that the book, while exposing the concept of false flag terror, could be interpreted by some as justification for preemptive strike warfare.
On the other hand, he does create a very realistic scenario.
I look forward to reading the book, hopeful that he offers solutions rather than frightening scenarios.

I see your point but

as long as he makes the story plausible and accurate with respect to mirroring 9/11 truth, I'm okay with it. Besides, his book will likely help with those people who are too mainstream to even glance at 9/11 truth in an impartial way.

"You know, this book is a lot like what those 9/11 conspiracy theorists say," she said.

"Seriously? The twoofers?" he replied. "Wow, maybe they're on to something. I guess I'll have to check them out."

Or something along those lines. ;)

The Shell Game by Steve Alten, PhD

I have read an advance copy of The Shell Game. It is a breakthrough for 9/11 Truth...a chance to get the concept of false-flag operations of 9/11 magnitude in front of millions of avid readers. Actually, Nelson DeMille's Wild Fire did a good job of that as well...but this one really gets into the meat of the issues. The author has included a huge number of quotes including Mike Ruppert and David Ray Griffin. He took a real risk with this. His usual publisher - for whom he has produced several NY Times' Best Sellers - apparently backed off the project so he found a publisher that would do it.

Steve Alten has clearly taken some major personal risks here. Not everyone (!!!) is going to be enamored of his VERY thinly-veiled messages. FOX will probably be frothing over it. But it will be right in front when you walk in to the two B's (B+N and Borders), and elsewhere, and his signing tours and spots on news shows will be a huge step forward for calling attention to what we know happened...and could happen again.

Is it a great work of fiction? No...it's a thriller, and I confess there were moments reading the last 3 chapters where I had to remind myself to breath! I could not get the climax out of my head for days after and it remains with me now. I won't spoil it for anyone. All I will say is: YOU WANT TO READ THIS BOOK and then get it in front of as many people as you can. I am waiting with baited breath to do a review on AMAZON. I have already told my whole network in my field about it.

Thank you, Steve Alten...and try to avoid flying in any small private airplanes for the time being...we'd hate for you to have the same "mechanical problems" Paul Wellstone and JFK Jr. had...but that, alas, is another set of stories.
