I think you're being a little harsh on the lady. Even if her rhetoric is a little overstated, it's hard to argue with her premise. At very least, she is defending democracy in a time of political confusion and wholesale deceit. And since democracy is not a guarantee but needs eternal vigilance, I can't see how she is doing any harm.

You sure dont' like her,. that is clear. but lets ask WHY? I find nothing extream about what see is saying,. fascism is quite certinly on the rise in america, as much as none of us would like to think about it,. it is true.

What is it you are missing here? the death numbers are not high enouph? one murder is unacceptable and the actions of the cheney junta are many times murderus,. and they are working the destory democracy! They are also dooming us for the coming end of oil,. we really need to be putting all our resources into building sustainable living systems that will feed people with the oil that is still relativly cheap!

...in her book she outright states that 9/11 was NOT an 'inside' job (i.e. she accepts the official line). This is according to an article I read about the book...I have not actually read it myself. Perhaps someone can verify this?

While Naomi Wolf at least gives a quick 'a new investigation is needed' reply, Klein--to my most bitter disappointment, as one who has very much appreciated her work to this point--reportedly responded to the same question from an audience member recently with the standard Chomsky-Cockburn talking point about how 9/11 is a 'distraction' from more pressing issues (yes, even though the adversaries on said issues are the very forces which continue to draw strength from acceptance of the official 9/11 story--duh!!).

Ron Paul accepts the official line as well. Yet, most of the truth movement ignores this about Ron Paul and says we should look at the bigger picture. Is believing in 911 being an inside job a litmus test that all academia should pass before we listen?

I don't get this frustration,. pointing out the econimic principles of the Shock Capitalism/Control-ism,. and the historic/and current context of democracy being attacked by fascism are quite important, as both of these are the very reasons and realities of the 9/11attack. Just because some person doing work to educate people does not use the same tool as you (9/11) does not detract, it only helps. Eventualy the possibility that 9/11 was a domestic attack and not a forign one, may occure to people, once they realise how these neo-con fasicsts are working it. The problem, as I see it, is that most normal that is non-sociopathic people would never imagen such attrocious behaviour and so discount it in others,. we have to show them just how crazy these neo-con loone-jobs are.

Unfortunately, if in the course of their work to educate people they not only fail to discuss 9/11, but go beyond that to discourage people from questioning the official story, and disparaging the efforts of those trying to get at the truth (as I understand Klein has done--along with a long list that of otherwise sharp observers that readers here are well familiar with), then they very much ARE detracting from the major thrust of their work. They are giving back with one hand so much of what they have presumably been trying to take away from the powers that be with the other.

Yeah, yeah, 'eventually.' But it's been more than six years already, and it's not like we have all the time in the world. And one of the things people will realize when they reach that point is how such critics effectively hindered them in their progress toward that eventual realization more than they helped it.

In short: inclusion of 9/11 truth (at minimum questioning the official story) most accelerates the education process; non-inclusion prevents the process from progressing as rapidly as it could; while outright dismissal, and the related implicit or explicit acceptance of the official story, positively slows it down.

HOWEVER, I dont hear any denouncment of 9/11 truth coming form either of these two? You assert it as a fact so where is the quote??? With out a context for why these guys pulled 9/11 and the ends they are attempting to achive how does 9/11 truth change anything? Both of them are providing historic context. Thay may not speak about 9/11 by name but the implications are all over it,. .

I haven't read her book, but I believe she lays some blame on free-markets. However, has there even been that much freedom of choice in the U.S. marketplace?
